Consolations From The True Constant
Cradled by a vortex chariot, see the damaged lonely angel,
A creature whose name time impossibly forgot.
Ship's workings hum under grief-clumsy fingers,
Her consciousness, briefly mortal, still lingers.
She who sees the worth behind his fractured hearts, knows what he's created,
In his unintended label of the age-less god.
You are not alone, she whispers, as he curls beneath the time rotor.
He thinks the words are a remnant, just an echo
Of a friend he had lost, a people he betrayed.
Now he won't listen, a Gallifreyan afraid
To find he is loved and revered for no more than what he is, this man
For whom above a million would call out 'Hello'.
Just this once she bids him wake, to dry his eyes and come out to listen.
Though new companionship would take a little while
He crept to the secret that the TARDIS had seen,
And eyes glazed with wonder, placed a hand on the screen.
Knowing in that moment that we are here for all the times that matter
The Doctor gave his audience a brave new smile.
