Hello group! I'm going to keep this brief, as I bet a lot of you have caught this elsewhere, but here's some new important stuff -

- Season 7 is right around the corner! A trailer for the first half was released a few weeks ago. You can watch it here on YouTube. I'm going to avoid spoilers and keep all discussion within the comments.

- It's been announced that at Christmas, we'll be getting a new companion. She's so far unamed, but is played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.

- And because of that, we've got a new folder. We are Eleven and All. And this blow-your-mind creatively-named folder is called New Companion. The same rules apply as for the other things - if it's something with her specifically as, well, herself the actress, please keep that to Out of Character. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
This is the discussion page for The Doctor, The Widow, and The Wardrobe.  There's no spoilers here, but read the comments at your own risk.
I didn't exactly buy into the rumor/story that Hollywood was going to make a Doctor Who movie (since that rumor seems to pop up every now and then), but then yesterday, Moffat had this to say on his Twitter:

"To clarify: Any Doctor Who movie would be made by the BBC team, star the current TV Doctor, and certainly NOT be a Hollywood reboot."
"Movie thing: David Yates, great director, was speaking off the cuff, on a red carpet. You've seen the rubbish I talk when I'm cornered."
(Contained in these particular tweets.)

Not exactly tragic in my book, though the idea was kind of interesting to ponder. Kind of.
Here's a little something I found by accident-hope you enjoy!

David Yates, director of the Harry Potter films announced he will be making a big screen version of long running BBC sci fi series.

He said he has started a search for writers to plot a new chapter for the ageless doctor.

It is unlikely Smith, who plays the current Doctor, will land the lead role.

Yates said the new film will not follow on from the popular TV series and hinted the Harry Potter scriptwriter Steve Kloves could land the job of writing the new film.

"The notion of the time-travelling Time Lord is such a strong one, because you can express story and drama in any dimension or time," Yates said.

The film will be made in co-operation with the BBC where the TV series ran from 1963-1989 before being relaunched six years ago.

The reboot of the long running series by writer Russell T Davies and Steve Moffat has proved a success both in the UK and America where it has a cult following.

He took over from David Tennant who relaunched the series after it was revived by the BBC in 2005.

Yates said the film would stay loyal to its roots even if an American writes the script.

"We want a British sensibility, but having said that, Steve Kloves wrote the Potter films and captured that British sensibility perfectly, so we are looking at American writers too," he told the Hollywood trade paper Variety.

The Los Angeles based unit of BBC Worldwide will be involved in the production of the film which is at least three years away from hitting the screens.

"We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two to three years to get it right," Yates said. "It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena."

Yates directed the final two parts of the Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" as well as "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince".

The long-running sci-fi show has already spawned two films - Doctor Who And The Daleks from 1965 and Doctor Who: Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 AD from 1966, which starred Peter Cushing as the Time Lord.
Today's the big 11.11.11!  What do you think team TARDIS is doing to celebrate right now?
